"Hybrid Learning": Beni Suef Faculty of Technology and Education's Gateway to Energy Conservation and Sustainability
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Tarek Ali, President of Beni Suef University, and with the guidance of Professor Dr. Mervat Refaat, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Education.
In line with the state's directives towards rationalizing energy consumption and promoting sustainability, Professor Dr. Mervat Refaat, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Education at Beni Suef University, held an extensive meeting on Sunday, April 5, 2026, with the attendance of the Vice Deans, the Faculty Director, and the heads of departments, to discuss mechanisms for reducing electricity and fuel consumption within the faculty.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of an innovative action plan based on the "hybrid learning" system, which achieves a balance between the quality of the educational process and the efficient use of resources. The plan includes expanding digital transformation by conducting lectures and training sessions online using Microsoft Teams on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while Mondays and Tuesdays are designated for in-person attendance, limited to courses requiring practical training in laboratories.
This new organizational structure has contributed to a significant and direct decrease in energy and fuel consumption rates, reflecting the college's commitment to supporting the state's efforts in addressing environmental and economic challenges.
Professor Dr. Mervat Refaat affirmed that this experience has demonstrated the possibility of achieving effective results through smart resource management. She noted that this achievement serves as a successful model that can be replicated in higher education institutions, particularly given its alignment with the state's plans for achieving sustainable development. She also emphasized the college's continued support for initiatives that promote energy efficiency and environmental protection.
